Americanism Essay Contest
A program of the Elks’ Grand Lodge Fraternal Committee, this contest was created to promote patriotism among young people.
This year’s theme is “What the Bill of Rights Means to Me.” Essays must be typed or legibly printed in ink (by the entrant) and must not exceed 300 words.
Student’s name, grade, school, & parent’s email address on the must be listed on the back of your essay. Available to students in the 6th-8th grades. Prize $100.
Deadline to submit: December 15, 2023.
Most Valuable Student
This scholarship is awarded by the Grand Lodge and funded by your donations to the Elks National Foundation! Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
Deadline: Closed on November 13, 2023.
Eligibility: Applicants must be current high school seniors (or the equivalent) and must be citizens of the United States. Students do NOT need to be related to a member of the Elks.
Elks Care, Elks Share Scholarship
We’ll be awarding $500-$1,000 for high school seniors headed for college in Newton County and adjoining counties!
Applications are available by emailing the Lodge at elks1806@hotmail.com or picking up in the lobby.

Drug Awareness Contests
This year’s theme:
“Be Kind to Your Mind – Live Drug Free”.
The winner in each age group in both the Poster AND Essay Contests win $100 prize!
Drug Awareness ESSAY Contest
Open to all 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students.
Participants must write essay themselves, but may get help from teachers, parents, or friends in the form of ideas.
Essays should be no longer than 250 words and should be typed, computer generated text, or handwritten on standard 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper.
Drug Awareness POSTER Contest
Open to all 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students.
Posters should be submitted on 81/2 x 11-inch paper. However, posters submitted on paper up to 11×24 inches in size will be accepted.
